Inheritance proceedings in Argentina with heirs abroad

If you inherited assets in Argentina and live elsewhere, we can review the appropriate proceedings and how to coordinate them from your country of residence.

Where an heir lives does not, by itself, determine where inheritance proceedings belong. We review the deceased person’s last domicile, the assets and any earlier proceedings. The firm is based in La Plata; jurisdiction and scope are assessed case by case.

Documents for the initial review

How we work

  1. We review the connection with Argentina, the relevant jurisdiction and any existing proceedings.
  2. We define the scope of the proposed work, the necessary documents and a fee proposal.
  3. If a power of attorney or foreign documents are needed, we review the applicable formalities before you arrange them.
  4. We agree on the follow-up arrangements and coordinate the steps covered by the engagement.

Common questions

Is a will required?

Not necessarily. Inheritance proceedings can take place without a will. If there is one, mention it in your first enquiry.

What if other heirs have already started proceedings?

We can review the case and your relationship with the deceased to assess the appropriate participation. A separate proceeding should not be assumed necessary.

Can I sell an inherited house immediately?

Ownership, the inheritance proceedings, other interested parties and the property’s situation must first be reviewed.

Will I need to travel or grant a power of attorney?

That depends on the proceeding and the required steps. Before signing a power abroad, its wording and formal requirements should be checked.

For the first contact, tell us the topic, whether proceedings have begun and the country you are contacting us from. We then arrange the document review. Do not put sensitive information or documents into the search box.
